Here he is my new arrival!!! Jackson Thomas born July 3rd!
Talk about an Art Slumber!! I feel soooooooooo out of the artsy-loop!! I had my baby!!! And took three months off! His name is Jackson Thomas and he is the light of my life. I am in love and having the time of my life with him. I'll post some pics of his beautiful face. But..... in the meantime I have not painted one lick, one stroke! I feel as if I've neglected one baby for another! I miss it so much. But can't seem to get back in the swing of painting. For one thing Jackson took over my studio in the guest bedroom... so it is now a baby nursery. I really have no where to paint. I'm going to have to create a new studio somewhere in the some corner of my home. And breastfeeding and caring for the baby leaves little time left in the day (not to mention I don't really want his little lungs breathing in acrylic paint just yet!). So when will I get it together and get back to my other love???? Let's just say one day at a time. IT WILL HAPPEN SOON THOUGH!!!!! I CAN'T STAY AWAY FOR TOO LONG!! CHEERS!

When it comes to purchasing artwork, I think sometimes we are under the impression that it is going to cost us a fortune. Lucky for us it doesn’t have to.
I am a huge fan of online shopping and a great place to look for reasonably priced artwork is on www.Etsy.com, where there are 150,000 sellers online. There is such a huge selection of things – artwork, jewelry, clothing, bath and beauty products and so much more. Every item is handmade. There is a huge range of prices, so there really is something for everyone.

A big trend right now is wall decals. They are easy to apply and look fantastic! These are ideal for children’s rooms and also great for creating a feature wall. It seems that the choices are endless. Wall decals are removable, but not reuseable. You can even get decals for your laptop and cell phone, too. A few shops worth checking out are: www. michellechristina.etsy.com and www.holly.etsy.com

One of my favourite abstract artists is a lady named Chaanda Bishop. Bishop’s shop is definitely worth looking at! Her work has such rich, beautiful colours. There is so much texture in her pieces and they are such a treat to see. Talk about eye candy! She is currently holding a sale in her shop at: www.Chaanda.etsy.com

Other great abstract artists’ stores to visit are: www.homestudio.etsy.com, www.ingridsart.etsy.com, www.originalabstract.etsy.com and www.earthart.etsy.com
If you are looking for something that is fun and casual, check out: www.suzannaanna.etsy.com – she makes the most fantastic five-by-five-foot art blocks that you mix and match to create your personalized arrangement for your house. A couple of other great stores are: www.Kmichel.etsy.com and www.angelapetsis.etsy.com
If you are looking for some really trendy pieces, you’ll want to be sure to visit: www.caterangel.etsy.com – she paints the most gorgeous portraits of women. Also go to: www.shauno.etsy.com -- –hauno creates lovely pop art portraits and abstracts.
You can also find a great deal of pottery on Etsy. Jmnpottery has some gorgeous pots, magnets, bowls and some very funny coffee mugs (be sure to check out the bride and groom skully mug set) and www.Studio1212.etsy.com is fantastic, too!
A few great stores featuring children’s artwork include: www.chichiboulie.etsy.com, www.artandphilanthropy.etsy.com, www.emrick123.etsy.co,and also www.sticknymph.etsy.com

I know that you will enjoy visiting Etsy as I always do. Happy shopping! Enjoy!

I just HAD to post this amazing feedback from one of my dear customers!! She has been such an amazing person to work with! I meet the most incredible people on Etsy!! Thank you so much for all of your support!!

"Great! I will purchase "Nostalgic" momentarily. I think something more free flowing and abstract like "Departure" would be perfect. I will send the $ right away.
I'm so incredibly excited. My husband LOVES your work. Generally, he's not much into the arts. When we go traveling, the last place he wants to go to is an art museum. But when I showed your work to him for the first time, it really woke up a part in him that I honestly didn't know existed. He's a very frugal type of guy, very science minded, also. But since seeing your work he's all about decorating the house with your paintings! So I just have to say THANK YOU! Our walls have been empty for almost 3 years, but now they are getting the life they deserve.
I look forward to seeing what you come up with!"

I think I'm really starting to get a hang of this blogging thing! It's a lot of fun. I'm a tad addicted at this point. I have a feeling I'm starting to spend a bit too much time on the computer and not enough time painting. Not good! But I have been networking like crazy... which is part of the biz, right?

Some positive feedback on my artwork

During the past 3 months I've been selling my art on Etsy.com. I wanted to share some of the feedback on my artwork by customers and admirers.....

"Your painting is awesome and look forward to hanging in my house!"

"i love your work, this is my first time using this site and your work really stood out to me. i look forward to receiving 'Manner'. thank you and take care."

"Thank you so much for a gorgeous piece of art. It arrived in perfect condition and was exactly what I had expected, if not more. You were very professional and prompt. I especially appreciate you sending me all of the additional photos. Thanks again and I think I'm going to try to find some more wall space in my house! Good luck with your business here at Etsy."

"I'm in the market for a large canvas of abstract art and have found myself drawn to your painting "Sagine". It evokes a very soothing and yet vital energy as look at it. It's a fantastic piece and I would like to have it in my home. I have the perfect place for it. "

"Sensational experience. Deeply moving art at a great value along with great seller integrity and communication."

Beautiful! The colors are even more alluring in person. Great seller, fast shipping. Will definitely be back for more."

"+++VERY POSITIVE EXPERIENCE!+++ Chaanda is such a talanted artist! Extremely professional, generous, kind and customer focused. Working with her on this piece was so much fun! I inquired about her doing a commissioned piece and after sending a few photos of the room; I had a beautiful piece of art hanging in my home in less than two weeks! I never expected the process to move so quickly! The painting in person far exceeded any expectations I had from the photos she emailed during the process. I could not be any happier with the results! I am honored to hang Chaanda's work in my home and would recommend her to anyone!"

"wonderful painting. great communication. shipped quickly."

"I love this piece of work! It is great. It looks beautiful and the colors are fantastic."

"Chaanda is awesome--she's sweet, funny and her artwork is beautiful!! The paintings look even better in real life than in the pictures, and I will definitely purchase from her again."

"This was a commission piece, and Chaanda was so great to work with on it. She made sure I was completely happy with it before shipping it out, and she finished it much quicker than I had expected. Y'all better buy something from her on Etsy while you can, because she's going to be famous one day!!! :)"

"Yes, i received it in excellent shape. It was nicer than expected, i really
like it. I just bought a second home in Florida - a bit north of you in
Vero Beach. I look forward to using some of your work there. You are a
talented artist."

Artwork Slideshow

This is my very first post!

Well here I start on my blogging journey with not a morsel of knowledge on how it's done, why it's done or it's benefits. I started because I was told it's important for my new artwork business. It's important to promote yourself in the bloggosphere, they say. So to flourish my new found love, painting, I will educate myself on blogging and increase my awareness of the wide, wide world of blogging!!

I have been painting for almost a year now. It fell into my lap less than a year ago, after a few health scares. I needed something cathartic to lift my spirits and so I decided to take a brush to paint. The rest is history really. I never put the brush back down. I have had no formal training, I only know what looks good and feels good to me. I paint entirely from feeling and inspiration!

Ok so this is my first shot at blogging. As told by others in the biz... you HAVE to have a blog. Really?? Well I've been doing some minute research as I write this and it looks as though everyone is right... and EVERYONE has a blog!

My true goal is to promote my artwork, network with other artists, chat with my awesome customers and meet new people who have a passion for art! I'm hoping I can write a little something each day.

I hope that I can also inspire others with my artwork and my story. I've been painting for almost a year and have had mild success so far. It's been a sensational ride and I'm obsessed with painting and selling my paintings on-line. It's really a unique experience that I've grown to love!

My main on-line site right now is Etsy. My store address is www.chaanda.etsy.com. I also have my own site, www.chaanda.com. I've had great success with Etsy. I love the Etsy community. Everyone is so darn sweet and professional. I've met some AMAZING customers! And amazing artists.

I also belong to an Etsy Team called Interior Design Etsy Team. Go check out our site: http://interiordesignetsy.ning.com/ . We have some amazing talent in our group. We were created to draw attention to Artists on Etsy who create anything to decorate the home. Our main goal is to inspire and cross-promote each other.

Well... cheers to my first blog... and to many more!! Thank you to all my customers and fans for all your amazing support!
